This past year has been incredibly fulfilling for my teaching endeavors. Despite the challenges posed by limitations in funding and my intensive Master’s Program in Biblical Studies, I was thrilled to still find ways to go teach in seven countries across Africa – the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d’Ivoire (twice!), Gabon, Liberia, Togo (also twice), South Africa and Burkina Faso! This was only made possible by the support of faithful Partners, my family and close friends.
To make this already incredible experience even more special, myself and my wife were also opportuned to attend the Discipleship Summit in Orlando, Florida. These trips have further reignited my passion towards providing teaching support to bigger and particularly to medium/smaller churches on the African continent.
After multiple trips across 20 African countries over the last 4 years, I have been encouraged to see churches who are beginning to partner and invite me into their ministries. Whether providing biblical teaching or advice, each engagement has allowed for opportunities of growth within these communities. In newly visited churches like in Libreville (Gabon), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Mthatha (South Africa), I experienced an incredible hunger for God’s Word – in some cases like the church in Burkina Faso, I have continued to answer many questions online and sent video content on some of the French lessons I have taught in the past! I have been especially encouraged to see some churches begin to take responsibility for my travel costs such as during my recent trip to South Africa.
In 2023, I am eager to visit and strengthen churches in Angola, Zimbabwe, Niger Republic, the DRC… while continuing with online engagements for churches I have already visited in the past. I will also be partnering with other teachers and the Beam Missions Foundation through the existing schools of missions on the continent; currently planning a trip to visit the schools of missions in Johannesburg in February/March and Kinshasa in August. I am also organizing a teaching tour for renowned teacher Dr John Oakes, across churches in Ghana, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal in February-March 2023.
Some of my local teaching engagements will include facilitating workshops for Bible Talk Leaders in Lagos, teaching in the Lagos School of Missions (NEOSOM), in partner Regions/ministries within Lagos as well as developing teaching content for the church at large.
I’m looking forward to embarking on a spiritual journey with other African Teachers and their wives to Israel early in February. The focus of my personal Bible Study will be to dive deep into the Gospels and Peter’s writings. My heart’s desire is to further embrace Jesus’ example of service with passion and purpose throughout 2023 – an endeavor I believe will undoubtedly bring glory unto God! hanks for your constant support and prayers.
