Great news from the deaf ministry in our Abidjan Partner Church! Since 2019, the church had planned a workshop with Wycliffes Associates which is an American organization working in bible translation over the World. They have developed a symbolical bible for deaf individuals who have never had the opportunity to go to school. Many deaf individuals are never taught how to read or write.
Recently in a town not very far from Abidjan the entire deaf ministry attended a workshop together with Wycliffes. The Name of the project is SUN Bible. SUN means: Symbolic Universal Notification. During 5 days they were trained as facilitators of SUN Project. 35 participants came from the US, Togo and Ivory Coast. 29 participants were from the deaf ministry in Abidjan with 8 sisters and 21 brothers.
It was wonderful to see deaf individuals who have never been to school before reading Symbolic bible the last day!
Because of God grace, 10 disciples received facilitators certificates which means they are able to teach SUN Bible.
The next step is to organize more workshops in the Ivory Coast to teach deaf individuals and people who have never been to school! We thank God and Wycliffes for this wonderful education for our churches!
